The Evolution of Britney Spears analysis
RollingStone magazine is a pop magazine. The target audience for this magazine is mainly adults who are over the age of 18. 59% of the readers of this magazine are men and the 41% is women which clearly show that this magazine is mainly focused on men rather than women.
In the mise en scene in the image, the costume is wearing is really sexy which shows that she is young. In this image the costume she is wearing is pink knickers which has black polka dots which shows the girly side of her and also she is wearing a black push up bra which pushes up her breasts and makes her more seductive. She is also wearing a cardigan which shows that she is still a school girl.
They have used a mid shot in which they have cut off her legs which avoided the image being too sexy. They used the mid shot as they wanted the readers to focus more on her rather than any other props used in the image.
The props they have used are the telephone and the teletubbie which shows that she is still young.
The setting they have used is a bed room. The bedroom looks like a man’s bedroom.
The colours they have used are white, black, grey and dark pink.
The inter-textual reference is made to Lolita who is a young girl aged 14 and dresses sexy and is more revealing. This image is really similar to the story of Lolita. And this links that Britney also seduces grown men.

A fair analysis with some use of media language. What type of shot is used here and what other type of magazine would usually use this? Are any intertextual references being made here? How is the artist reprensented? Will men and women have different interpretations?
